Dinghy Sailing Wetsuits

All the equipment for light sailing!'

Dinghy or catamaran sailing requires specific clothing. Contact with the water is inevitable as soon as the conditions are a bit sporty. Once wet, the wind will cool you down very quickly even if the temperature is mild. It is then indispendable to have a waterproof equipment, even waterproof according to the conditions and the season to take a maximum of pleasure in full safety.

How to choose your neoprene wetsuit for man?

Naturally, the choice of your neoprene wetsuit for man depends on the temperature of the water in which you are used to evolve. Expressed in millimeters, the thickness of your equipment conditions its level of thermal insulation. The greater it is, the warmer the product will keep you.

Depending on the product, this thickness can be indicated by one or two numbers. If there are two digits, as with the Tribord Dinghy Men's 3/2 millimeter wetsuit, it simply means that the thickness of the neoprene varies for different body parts. The first number corresponds to the thickness at the bust level, the second to the arms and legs. This 3/2 millimeter wetsuit will therefore be perfectly suited for dinghy outings in cool weather.

In contrast, the 1 millimeter wetsuit is designed for warm weather practices. It is notably equipped with an anti-UV sun protection to allow you to enjoy your regular sailing in optimal conditions. Check out our recap below:

The neoprene wetsuit, the essential accessory for all your water activities

For your sailing, boating, or with our 5S inflatable dinghy, it is essential to equip yourself with a man's neoprene wetsuit. The latter will indeed allow you to maintain your body temperature throughout your activity, whether it's hot or in more wintry conditions. Discover our range of Tribord products imagined by practicing designers who listen to your needs.

The neoprene wetsuit for all your water activities

The neoprene wetsuit is a well-known piece of equipment for all water activities practitioners, from scuba diving to sailing through wakeboarding, surfing or longe cte. However, there are products more or less adapted to your activity. For sailing or boating, our range of Tribord products will meet the expectations of all sailors, whether they are beginners or more experienced. Our Dinghy wetsuits will indeed keep your body at temperature in contact with the water, both in winter and in summer depending on the thickness chosen.

Comfortable and offering a real freedom of movement, they also improve your buoyancy. To be effective, however, such a suit must be worn very close to the body. Otherwise, it will lead to unpleasant feelings of friction that can considerably hinder practice. Similarly, the thermal comfort function will be less felt.

Our Tribord equipment is developed by a team of specialized and passionate designers in the south of France, in Hendaye. The products are then tested in the laboratory and in real-life conditions (by 47Nautik's nautical bases in Brittany) so that we can offer you the best possible quality equipment at prices that are always affordable.

The characteristics of our neoprene products

Neoprene is a thick, rigid synthetic material that retains elastic properties. It is very popular with water sports enthusiasts because it is thermoregulatory. In other words, it keeps you warm, which is particularly pleasant and comfortable for activities in or around water. In concrete terms, a neoprene wetsuit works by trapping a film of water around the body. The water trapped inside the equipment gradually warms up and slows down the evacuation of heat. It acts as an insulating layer to keep your body at temperature for several hours.

In addition to this thermal comfort, the Decathlon Sailing Suits stand out for their comfort. Flexible and breathable, they offer great freedom of movement, essential for the practice of water activities of all kinds. In addition to the stretch seams, the arms, chest and legs have a specific yoke to facilitate the realization of the various maneuvers on the boat.

Our products are moreover designed to last over time thanks to numerous reinforcements, especially in the knees and buttocks. This tends to limit the wear and tear of these sensitive areas that are very exposed to friction on board, while optimizing your comfort in all positions.

The maintenance of your sailing suit

The rigorous maintenance of your neoprene suit will considerably prolong its life. To clean it effectively, simply rinse it in fresh water to remove sea salt that can damage the wetsuit's components. In all cases, prefer hand washing and avoid using a washing machine. It is possible to use a disinfectant to optimize the result of the maintenance.

Then dry your equipment on a hanger, away from the sun. On the other hand, do not lay out your equipment in the immediate vicinity of a heat source to preserve the properties of the neoprene. In the event that nicks appear on your wetsuit over time, use neoprene glue to seal the gaps.

Optimize the effectiveness of your Dinghy wetsuit

To perform well, it is fundamental to choose a neoprene sailing wetsuit in the right size. This type of equipment should thus be worn in a fitted manner, as close to the body as possible. Once put on, this product is a real second skin. When it is not wet, your wetsuit will feel extremely tight. This is perfectly normal. Once in the water on the other hand, the neoprene softens and allows you to move freely.

When going out in the winter, you can complete your wetsuit with some accessories. For example, it is advisable to cover your head to face the extreme cold. It is indeed an excellent way to preserve your body temperature. To do this, you can opt for a full hood or a neoprene cap. Other accessories can be useful to finalize your equipment of the perfect sailor, whether it is neoprene gloves, ankle boots or even socks.
