The maintenance of your waterproof dungarees and the reactivation of the water repellency

The frequent maintenance of your sailing dungarees will allow to extend considerably its lifespan and to maintain its water repellency over time. Before you begin cleaning, close the various zippers and remove any items that do not wash out. Then turn your overalls inside out and put them in the washing machine. For an efficient cleaning, you can use your usual detergent and opt for a synthetic program at 40C maximum. However, avoid using fabric softener so as not to damage the technical components of the product. In addition, choose an abundant rinsing program (or perform a double rinse) to remove all traces of detergent.

Then put your garment to dry on a drying rack placed in the open air. Never dry your outfit on a radiator. Then use the dryer for about 15 minutes, before putting the overalls back on. If, despite these precautions, your sailing overalls no longer perform their water-repellent function (water drops seep into the fabric instead of trickling down to the surface), you can waterproof them again using a Decathlon water-repellent reactivating spray.
