The Tribord Offshore PRO outfit was developed and tested with Yannick Bestaven and other partner skippers. It meets the demands of all types of competitions, transatlantic, offshore, single-handed, with a crew and on different boats: Yannick BESTAVEN (IMOCA), Quentin VLAMYNCK (Ocean 50), Achille NEBOUT, LES VOILEUSES AU LARGE, Keni PIPEROL (Class 40), Romain LE GALL (Figaro 3), Sasha LANIECE and Léo BOTHOREL (Mini 6.50)

Always at the right temperature

Our challenge for sailing consists of designing products that keep sailors at the right temperature at all times, during highly active (production of heat) and static activities when exposed to the wind (loss of heat). A good sailing midlayer: 1- protects against the cold, 2- wicks away perspiration and limits body odours, 3- is windproof and water-repellent, 4- can be worn under a sailing jacket. We explain how the PRO midlayer meets these 4 demands:

Insulation from the cold

On the basis of a thermal study of the human body, we identified the areas of perspiration and heat loss during active and passive phases. We selected suitable components: - Merino wool (250 g/m2) for its insulation properties, even when wet. - fleece in addition to the wool in certain parts - breathable mesh to wick away sweat. These 3 options vary from section to section The neck and pockets have two layers of fleece.

Wicking away perspiration limiting odours

The built-in zip is the obvious choice to wick away perspiration during active phases (winching, manœuvring the sails, trimming, etc.). Merino wool also limits body odours (ISO lab test 17299-3). It is a real must-have on long outings.

Windproofing and water-repellency

The outer fabric keeps out the wind, which is a recurrent cause of cold. The bottom draw cord is used to adjust the midlayer for a good fit. The draw cord can be accessed from inside the pocket. The fabric is water-repellent, so the midlayer is not watertight.

A thin and lightweight midlayer

It is designed to fit under a liner jacket/shell jacket, thanks to the soft and thin components. The cuff rip-tab can be used for a tight fit. It weighs 625 grams in size L

How to choose the size of your midlayer

The midlayer is close-fitting. It is designed to be worn with thermal underwear. For men, choose your usual size. For women, we recommend choosing one size smaller than your usual size.
