Design details
ANTI-ROTATION
The PST 900 ski helmet is equipped with the MIPS anti-rotation system. Its purpose is to reduce the rotational energy of an impact and thereby reduce the risk of brain damage.
The low-friction layer (yellow layer under the helmet liner) allows multi-directional movement of 10 to 15mm with certain oblique shocks. This is to reduce the rotational force transmitted to the head and brain.
Semi-rigid ears
Our PST 900 MIPS with semi-rigid ears covered with a shell. They provide excellent coverage of the ear (no cartilage pain and excellent hearing) and conform perfectly to the shape of the face (superior retention and no draughts).
Hat
The liner of our PST 900 MIPS helmet is not the warmest in our range. As this helmet is intended for frequent skiers, we wanted it to be ventilated and breathable. The areas (in light grey) with memory foam allow the helmet to conform perfectly to the shape of each person's head and reduce uncomfortable pressure points.
Ventilation
The PST 900 MIPS helmet is very efficient in terms of thermal comfort. It has adjustable air vents (open/closed) that provide very good thermal comfort whatever the conditions.
Internal ventilation channels with an outlet grille at the back that allows excellent air flow.
ADJUSTMENT WHEEL
The adjustment wheel plays a key role in keeping your helmet secure. This system can be easily and precisely adjusted at any time using the easily accessible dial that you can even use with your skiing gloves. This makes it very comfortable and provides maximum safety. Turn the dial to the right to tighten and to the left to loosen.
IN-MOLD STRUCTURE
This type of structure, known as In-Mold, features a polycarbonate outer shell that is moulded directly to the EPS liner. The inner EPS liner absorbs shocks in the event of a collision. The whole thing is extremely lightweight. We recommend changing your ski helmet at least every 5 years unless it has sustained a significant impact in the meantime.
EN 1077 Standard
Standard EN 1077:2007 is a European standard that applies to helmets used for cranial protection during downhill skiing and snowboarding. This standard tests the ability to absorb shocks and resistance to penetration. There are 2 categories:
- Class A: protects the top and back of the head, as well as the ears and the side of the head
.- Class B: Protects the top and back of the head but doesn't cover the ears.
WHAT SIZE?
* Measure your head’s circumference in centimetres (around the middle of the forehead and just above the ears).
* Choose the size that covers this measurement.
Example: if you have a head circumference of 56 cm, you should try a helmet in size 55-59 cm.
FITTING
Take plenty of time to try it on properly. You shouldn't feel any areas of discomfort. If you do then try another model. Always try your helmet with your mask, because not all helmets go with all masks. A helmet is compatible with a ski mask when there is no air space between the top of the mask and the helmet.
HELMET ADJUSTMENT
During practice, the ski helmet must be properly fitted and adjusted:
* It is essential to choose the right size.
* The head circumference must be adjusted using the thumb wheel.
* The chinstrap must be properly adjusted.
It's a bit like the seat belt in a car: if it’s too loose, it will not perform its function and you will be less protected.
SAFETY
Avoid putting a thick hat under your helmet as this will move the helmet away from your head and you won't be as well protected.
Opt instead for a very thin beanie or balaclava that does not affect your safety. A helmet has good insulating properties. There is often no point in adding anything else. Also, avoid adding a camera to your helmet as this can affect safety. The standard does not take into account any elements added to the helmet.
EASE OF USE
Removable comfort foam machine-washable at 30°C. The ears of the PST 900 MIPS are not detachable.
Use only soapy water and a soft cloth to clean your helmet.
