This is a crucial point. The changes in casting distance can be very significant depending on the diameter of the line used. To make sure the line glides as smoothly as possible, use thin nylon 26/100 or 33/100. This high quality Japanese line is also extremely resistant to knots and abrasion.
A properly loaded reel can significantly increase your casting distance. The trick consists of filling the reel "to the brim" so that when you cast, the line unwinds without losing speed.
A tapered leader, also called a "rat's tail" is ideal for increasing cast distance when surf casting. The diameter of the leader gradually decreases, which means it slows down the line very little as it passes through the rings. What's more, using a tapered leader makes your rig more solid and considerably reduces the risk of it breaking.
An aerodynamic sinker provides better penetration through the air while reducing friction on your rig, which means you can increase your casting distance even more. A tapered sinker with a rod offers the best performance. Tapered sinkers are available in different weights.
Easy to learn, it's not a question of physical force but more fluidity of movement. Once you've mastered it you will get results quickly.
1- Stand facing the sea. Put your sinker on the ground with the tip facing downwards and the heel facing upwards.
2- Start casting by rotating your chest. This movement must be as fluid and smooth as possible. The arms follow this movement naturally and make the rod rotate.
3- Next keep the tip of the rod in the air until your line breaks the surface of the water. The rod must be at an angle of 45° in relation to the ground.
