Shop Bike Pumps - Online or In Store
How should you choose your bike pump? 'If there's one accessory you choose to have with you (or on you), it's a bike pump (along with a tyre lever and inner tube). There are two types: hand pumps and foot pumps.
Hand pumps can be slipped into your jersey's back pocket or fixed onto your bike's frame. They will prove vital if you get a puncture! Numerous hand pumps are now compatible with Presta/Schrader valves and can be used on both road and city bikes. A foot pump is the best option for road bikes as it inflates tyres very quickly to over 7 bars. And thanks to the pressure gauge, you need not worry about inflating to the wrong tyre pressure. You can then re-inflate your bike before every outing if needed. Some foot pumps can even inflate to 10 bars!
Opt for a foot pump with an aluminium or steel body as this will make it stand the test of time. Although lightweight, pumps with a plastic body tend to be less durable. The base should be heavy to make the unit very stable when pumping and during storage.
