We designed this hat for maximum sun protection without making you overheat. The wide brim will shield your eyes and face from the sun, while the UV protective fabric, stops harmful rays getting in. There are perforations around the top so air can circulate and moisture can escape, and a cord so you can carry it round your neck.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

What criteria must a hat meet in order to qualify as "UV protective"?

UV protection regulations for hats are very specific: The fabric must obviously be UV protective (UPF above 50) but that isn't sufficient to claim that the finished product is UV protective. The hat must also have a wide brim and flap which fully protects the face and the back of the neck.
The Trek 500 hat meets these requirements so you can go hiking with complete peace of mind: you are perfectly protected!

Why is polyamide considered more durable?

Polyamide offers excellent abrasion and tear resistance. Furthermore, this synthetic fibre is not susceptible to microorganisms or mould!

How do you measure a fabric's quick dry capacity?

The product is machine-washed 3 times and line-dried; it is then immersed in water in order to measure the time taken for the product to return to its original pre-washed weight.
This hat scored an impressive 5 out of 5 stars, returning its pre-washed weight in under 80 minutes!
