Waterproofing test

Footwear waterproofing test: laboratory- and field-tested, shoes with a breathable, waterproof membrane ensure you have optimum protection from the rain. First immersed in water under air pressure, we check that there are no bubbles on the surface of the boots. The boots are then placed half-immersed on a mechanical arm that simulates walking to check that the inside of the boot remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing

During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of impermeability: 2000 flexes (about a 4 km walk), 4000 flexes (about an 8 km walk) and 8000 flexes (about a 16 km walk). Naturally, when the boot has dried after the test or in use, it regains its original waterproof rating.

Level of waterproofing of the TREK 100 leather boot

This boot has been validated on the waterproofing test at 8000 repeatable flexes, ie 16 km of walking, in water up to the mid-upper, which today guarantees the best level of waterproofing for your boots.
The boot’s construction, with its upper having very few seams, also helps increase this waterproofing.

Lab tests

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements:
- tearing of hooks and eyelets
- gluing of the sole
- toxicology
- UV resistance
- abrasion of the sole and components of the upper
- accelerated ageing.

Buying tips

Try on both boots, while standing, with the socks worn for hiking.
Try several models in several sizes if needed.
Check the following two areas of comfort: the position of the heel (the heel does not lift up, or very little) and the front of the foot going downhill (the toes do not touch the end).
There should be no compression points when fitting.
Don't hesitate to walk around the store.
Wear your boots in gradually during your first hikes to break them in.

Care instructions

Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the boot and remove any dirt or mud.
Then leave to air dry, away from any heat source.
Finish by using a re-waterproofing spray to keep optimal water-repellency of the upper and extend the life of the boot.
