What is the role of a women's Thermal or Base Layer Top?

The ski undershirt, also known as a baselayer, is designed to be as close as possible to your skin. Made from stretchy textiles, this thermal underwear helps regulate body temperature by wicking perspiration away from the body. In other words, technical underwear offers breathability to keep your body dry. Depending on the components used in the garment, it may also have antibacterial properties. For example, the natural fibers of merino wool prevent the proliferation of bacteria. Whether you're going downhill skiing, freeriding, ski-touring or even tobogganing, a breathable undershirt is a must-have piece of winter gear.

How to choose a woman's base layer?

Opt for a technical undergarment that hugs your body perfectly, while ensuring good freedom of movement. If the underwear is too loose, its technical properties may be compromised. Most of the thermal underwear in our range is made from wool and polyester. Wool, appreciated for its softness and anti-odor properties, offers excellent insulation. Polyester, on the other hand, facilitates the evacuation of perspiration generated by exertion. Women's underpants technology has evolved considerably in recent years. You can now choose the cut that suits you best. Round or turtlenecks, there's something for everyone. Brands such as Uyn, Heat Keeper, Odlo, Black Snake and DECATHLON incorporate highly breathable fibers in some of their underpulls, particularly in areas of high perspiration such as the back. Today, everything is designed to ensure the comfort of skiers and snowboarders on the slopes!

Thermal underwear that lasts!

Follow our care tips to keep your women's baselayer performing season after season. Before machine-washing your garment, check the care instructions on the label. For synthetic underwear, select the synthetic program at 30°C. For merino wool or blended undershirt, choose the delicate program at 30°C. All DECATHLON women's ski underpulls come with a two-year guarantee.
