SKIING:WHAT SKI CLOTHING SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?

Going on a ski holiday but you don't know how to dress properly to ski? Choose some technical ski clothing that can withstand temperature fluctuations. Indeed, between the active phase of skiing down the slopes and the inactive phase of taking the ski lifts involved in alpine skiing, your body will undergo many temperature variations. There's no point in stacking multiple layers of clothing on top of each other. To protect yourself from the cold, the 3-layer system is sufficient. This combination of layers allows air to flow, keeping your body warm without hindering your movements. The purpose of the first layer is to wick away perspiration from your body. This is the thermal underwear which is worn directly on the skin. The second layer is an intermediate layer designed to keep the air warm and dry. This may be a ski jumper, a liner jacket or fleece. Finally, the job of the third layer is to insulate and protect you from the weather conditions. It must be wind-proof, waterproof and breathable. For this third layer, you can choose a ski jacket or a padded ski jacket depending on what you prefer. For the bottoms, opt for a pair of ski or snowboard pants with reinforcements at the ankles to protect the trousers from the metal edges of your skis. Also very practical are the ski pants with braces which offer good support and comfort in use. The ski suit is back in fashion and is increasingly present on the ski slopes. Assembled in a single piece, it prevents cold air from entering to keep you warm and looking good on the slopes!

To complete the ski outfit, you need to protect your head, feet and hands

This is often overlooked and yet essential – when it's cold it's important to protect the extremities. You must wear ski gloves with a warm lining to protect your hands from the cold. There are gloves made specifically for skiing and snowboarding, as well as special gloves for ski touring and cross-country skiing. Whether it is the standard 5-finger models, the lobster gloves, the 3-finger gloves or even the ski mittens, you will find the pair of gloves you need. For the head, we recommend wearing a ski helmet on the slopes which will have the dual purpose of protecting your head in the event of a fall or collision and keeping your head warm. For breaks, or for cross-country skiing or ski touring, you can wear a ski hat or headband to protect your head from the cold and wind. Finally, for your feet, choose ski socks that are specifically made for skiing with reinforcements at the extremities.
