TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Construction

These skis are made with a wood core and vertical edges. The advantage of this construction? It offers a great capacity to absorb irregularities in the terrain and changeable snow conditions.

Bindings

Tyrolia's Alpine Switchable Ambition bindings are what all freeride touring fans have been waiting for. They offers freedom while providing exceptional safety and tireless performance. Their composition, lightweight construction and practical features provide the ultimate mountain experience for ambitious skiers as well as beginner freeride touring skiers.
Suitable for boots between 250mm and 350mm.
Compatible soles: alpine and touring.
Din 4 to 12.

Durability

Black sole for easier repairs.
Topsheet semi-cap to avoid use of scales.

Preparation

Waxed and sharpened skis, ready to use. Edges sharpened at 89°.

What is a camber?

When you place a ski on the ground, the contact points between the ski and the snow are often located near the tip and tail, while the middle of the ski (under the bindings) is lifted slightly off the ground (this is the camber). The longer and higher the camber, the better the grip and the more responsive the ski. The flatter the camber, the more flexible and forgiving the ski.

What is a rocker?

On a "rocker" ski, the tip - and sometimes the tail - lift off the ground earlier than on a cambered ski. This has the effect of shifting the contact points towards the middle of the ski. This means there is less surface area in contact with the snow: this, in turn, results in greater manoeuvrability and buoyancy in soft snow. When leaning at an angle, you engage more edge providing greater grip on hard snow. The longer the rocker, the easier the ski is to handle.

What are ski sidecuts?

The sidecut is determined by 3 measurements: the width of the tip (front of the ski), the waist (middle of ski) and tail (back of ski). The wider the tip, the easier the turn entry. The narrower the waist, the stronger the grip in hard snow. The wider the waist, the more comfortable and stable in different snow conditions. The wider the tail, the better the grip exiting the turn. The narrower the tail, the better the glide.
