INOVIK
4.8/5
Are you a regular cross-country skier seeking an easily-accessible ski that will help you improve your technique? The 500 is made for you! Thanks to its medium camber and reinforced tail, the Skate 500 is a rigid ski. It has good glide performance thanks to its stone finish (speed grinding). It's ideal for making progress.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

1 - The 500 skate cross-country ski with ski skins, the ideal ski for improving your technique!

If you regularly practise skate cross-country skiing at a relatively intense level because you like a cardio workout and enjoy winter sports.
And you are good at the basic steps.
Then, the 500 skate ski for intermediate cross-country skiers is for you.
It is a manoeuvrable high-tech ski that will help you improve your technique. It will help you build confidence and intensity!

2 - Choosing the right SIZE

The size of a cross-country ski is chosen according to your proficiency and height.
For the 500 skate ski :
- 45 to 55 kg = 165 cm
- 50 to 65 kg = 170 cm
- 55 to 70 kg = 175 cm
- 60 to 75 kg = 180 cm
- 70 to 85 kg = 185 cm
- More than 85 kg = 190 cm
If you are between two sizes:
- For more comfort, choose the lower size to ensure the ski is more manoeuvrable.
- For more intense use = choose the larger size.

3 - PERFORMANCE bindings, the key to an optimised experience!

All of our skis are sold with Rottefella bindings that are compatible with the NNN, prolink and Turnamic standards.
The 500 skis are equipped with the Rottefella PERFORMANCE skate bindings that are more suited to intermediate skiers.
The binding can be moved forwards or backwards to your preferred position using the key provided: For more grip, move the binding forwards/for better glide performance move the binding backwards.
It features an improved user-friendly locking mechanism.

4 - An extruded base – the right balance between glide performance and durability

The base is the part of the ski that is in contact with the snow.
It plays an important role in defining a ski's performance. It is made of polyethylene (HDPE) with an extruded or sintered HDPE manufacturing process.
The base of the 500 ski is made of EXTRUDED HDPE, which is made from plastic grains heated to a high density and flattened by a roller to form a film that can be used in the base design.
This process gives the base good glide performance and durability.

5 - Waxing, the secret of sustainability!

To maintain the performance of your skis, don't forget to wax them regularly!
The wax eliminates the water from under the base of the ski so that it doesn't "stick" to the pistes.
The waxes are made from paraffin.
There are 3 categories of wax : HC (fluorine-free hydrocarbon) / LF (low fluorination) / HF (high fluorination).
To wax your skis, check out our tutorials on our Inovik YouTube channel or make an appointment in your Decathlon workshop!
