TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Mountain Touring

In an unspoilt mountainous environment, far from the groomed slopes, you experience the total freedom of skiing without external support.
You have all the safety equipment you need (avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe).
Whether you go with friends, family or, possibly, mountain professionals (guides), you always go with someone (never unaccompanied). Such a back-country skiing tour can last one day or several days.

Pack

The Session 89 skis are sold as part of a pack with Free Tracks binding and skins.
The binding is fitted on a plate that enables the length of the binding to be adjusted by 45 mm.
It therefore fits a wide range of shoe sizes.
The plate is fitted according to a size-based assembly guide that meets everyone's needs.
This fitting type enables you to lend your skis, change shoe sizes, etc.
It is a huge advantage to easily discover ski touring.

Skins

The skins sold with the Session 89 skis are designed and cut to the length and width of the ski.
They include 65% Mohair and 35% nylon; it is the best compromise between glide (when ascending, to limit effort) and grip (when ascending to limit the recoil effect).
The skins are fitted with a metal stirrup that fits on most ski tips and an adjustable camlock at the back to fit the skin on the tail.

Construction

Poplar wood construction with straight edges. 5 axis carbon reinforcement.

What is a camber?

When placing a ski on the ground, its points of contact are found near the nose and tail, whereas the middle of the ski (under the bindings) is slightly raised (this is the camber). The longer and higher the camber, the greater the edge grip and more responsive the ski. The lower the camber, the more forgiving the ski and the better the handling it has.

Camber

The Session 89 has a medium camber – good compromise between edge grip, leverage when exiting turns and handling on all types of snow.

What are ski sidecuts?

The sidecuts have 3 measurements – the width of the nose (front of the ski), waist (middle of the ski) and tail (back of the ski). The wider the tip, the easier it is to initiate turns. The slimmer the waist width, the more edge grip the ski has on hard snow. The wider the waist, the more comfortable and stable the ski is in changing snow conditions. The wider the waist, the greater the stability of the ski in turns. The slimmer the tail, the easier it is to side-slip.

Sidecuts

126/89/114 in size 169 cm
18 metre radius in size 169 cm

Weight

Ski only = 1250 grams in size 169.
Ski with Free Tracks binding = 1850 grams in size 169 cm.

Size of the bindings

169 cm = 270 to 315 mm
177 cm = 290 to 335 mm
184 cm = 300 to 345 mm
