The 4-layer system
During a trek, conditions can change quickly, so it's important to be prepared. Several layers are better than one big thick jacket, so you need to choose the right layering system for your adventures. To stay comfortable and protected, whatever the weather throws at you, we recommend following the 4-layer system. This includes: 1 base layer - 2 insulating and breathable layer - 3 insulating layer - 4 outside protective layer.
Weatherproof down to -10°C
Adjust the toggles on the hood and the bottom of the jacket for the perfect fit.
FORCLAZ DOWN HOODY JKT MT500 kaki W SS23
Space-saving design
The RDS-certified down and feather filling makes this jacket ultra-light and compressible, allowing it to be packed away in its storage pouch for easy transportation (and to save space in your backpack).
FORCLAZ products undergo rigorous tests at our design centre at the foot of Mont-Blanc, before being tested in the field in real conditions.
Thermal lab tests
All our padded jackets are tested to ensure optimum comfort in a specific temperature range when hiking. Our tests allow us to determine the comfort temperature and the limit temperature. The comfort temperature is the ideal temperature when you are in a static position or in the evening when bivouacking. The limit temperature is the maximum recommended temperature when active at which the jacket performs well.
Field tests in the mountains
4 female trekkers and 2 members of the Forclaz brand tested this down jacket for 3 days of trekking up to 3,000 m altitude near Chamonix, in the Mont Blanc Country. The feedback given to us after this test allowed us to validate this down jacket for mountain trekking.
Repairing a padded jacket
Use a repair patch to stop a tear from getting bigger or feathers from escaping.
Extra copy if space -
Some Decathlon workshops also offer an in-store repair service to mend your padded jacket using a heat-bonded patch.
