WHY IS THIS THE RIGHT AERIAL HOOP FOR ME?
This is the most versatile hoop. 1 point hoops, 2 point hoops, and 0 point hoops all serve important purposes depending on the moves and routines you have planned.
A Shackle hoop can fit any of these roles using high strength steel shackles as your attachment points. The shackles lock securely and with no protruding pin to get in the way.
A Shackle Hoop will allow you to rig as a 1-Point or 2-Point using soft rigging attached directly to the shackles. This reduces wear on metal components, reduces the amount of hardware needed, and looks clean. You can switch between 1 or 2 point configurations with only one hoop!
You can rig without the shackles, like a 0-point hoop.
Prodigy Aerial Hoops are made in the UK to exceptionally high safety standards.
Prodigy Aerial Hoops come with a grippy matt powder coating that is durable and looks great. However, the bare powder coating can take while to warm up (like pole dancing poles) so is often taped.
WHICH SIZE DO I NEED?
1) Sit on a chair. Measure from the seat of the chair to the top of your head and add 10cm.
2) Stand up straight with feet together and flat on the floor. Bend at your hips until your torso is at 90 degrees to your legs. Measure from floor to your lower back, add 5cm.
These are a guideline for the correct size.
1) is for beginners. This method means you won't feel cramped or hit your head.
2) ensures you can catch your feet on the top of the hoop. Your feet can miss the top of the hoop if it's too big, if it's too small they can hit the top when not intended.
Note: Sizes listed are EXTERNAL diameter. For internal diameter deduct 5 cm.
HOW DO I RIG THIS AERIAL HOOP?
You can rig a 1-Point by securing a Polyester Strop (Round Sling, Span Set) or Prodigy Aerial PolySafe Rope to the centre of the bar using two provided shackles. Don't use a carabiner here.
You can choke a Strop or PolySafe Rope directly to the bar. If you are using the hoop un-taped you will need to put tape directly under the Strop/Rope to prevent slipping.
You can use a Prodigy Aerial Slings - 18mm in some circumstances, like a performance if you need rigging which is less visible to the audience.
You can rig a 2-Point by securing a Strop or PolySafe Rope directly to an outside hole in the bar, using one shackle on each side. Don't use a carabiner here.
You can connect a Prodigy Dyna-Core Triangle Hanging Rope directly to this hoop with the shackles.
If you don't want the Aerial Hoop to spin, connect your strop/rope to your anchor point with a carabiner. Recommended when you want to keep a hoop rigged from one point facing an audience. Recommended if you don’t have much height.
Carabiners to use are Prodigy SG21 Screw Gate Carabiners, Prodigy AL21 Double-Action Carabiners, or Prodigy AL22 Triple-Action Carabiners.
If you want the Aerial Hoop to spin, add a carabiner at the top of the rope/strop, this connects to a swivel and then another carabiner to your anchor point.
Swivels to use are Prodigy Aerial Swivel - Small Round or Prodigy Aerial Swivel - Large Round.
DO I NEED ANYTHING ELSE?
A safe rigging/anchor point.
There are optional accessories and essential rigging gear. What you need for each type of Aerial Hoop varies.

The Introduction to Aerial Hoop book.

IMPORTANT NOTE…
Everything above assumes you have a suitable and safe rigging point, like a professionally installed rigging point or a reputable and rated freestanding rig. Not every home/studio will be the same, so we cannot advise on this part. If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer/experienced rigger/professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it.
