Footballs come in a whole range of styles, with new designs and manufacturing processes every season. Every tournament gives rise to a new football to be used especially for that tournament, with each competition and league following suite with their designated seasonal balls. Although this isn't something that most players need to concern themselves with, playing with a high quality football will improve the playing experience. As will a good pair of football boots, so it's important to do your research and try lots on to find the right ones for you.

TRAINING FOOTBALLS

Two teams playing with size 5 footballs will have a different experience to those playing with a size 3 ball. With sizes ranging from 1-5, each ball has its own purpose for all ages. A small football can be used by children, but they're also great for adults to practice their skill work such as dribbling or passing to improve accuracy on match day. And whether you’re just taking your own kit to a game or training or if you’re responsible for bibs, balls and shirts; check out our range of football kit bags too.

CHILDREN'S FOOTBALLS

When choosing a new football for child, it's really important to get the right size for their age. How many times do you see small children trying to kick a size 5 ball around, nearly tripping over it because it is too large? The FA recommend the following ball sizes:

Size 1 footballs: Age 3 years and under

Size 2 footballs: 4 and 5 years olds

Size 3 footballs: Ages 6 to 9

Size 4 footballs: 10 to 13 year olds

Size 5 footballs: 14 year olds and up (including adults)

Decathlon's range of football balls includes outdoor and indoor footballs, from the best brands including Adidas footballs, Mitre footballs, and our in-house brand Kipsta footballs, which offer exceptional value for money. We also have a range of football pumps to ensure they are kept well-inflated whatever your game.
