The Hydro‑Force quick release belt for paddle boards is an essential safety accessory for paddleboarding on flowing water or where there are hazards underwater that your leash could get caught on if you fall in. This includes tidal estuaries and currents in rivers.
The quick release SUP belt is fully adjustable around your waist and has a secure belt clasp with quick release toggle that, when pulled, provides fast and efficient release from the board. Simply attach your existing ankle leash to the loop on the back of the belt. The excess strap on the belt must be cut down so that there is only around 6 inches or so of material passing through the buckle for a fully effective release.
The main reason for using a quick release belt is to prevent complications due to entanglement. If you come off your paddle board in flowing water conditions, there is a risk of your leash becoming tangled or stuck on underwater objects. Without a quick release belt you would struggle to detach yourself from the board and be caught in a dangerous and compromising situation.
Be safe on your adventures and always use a Hydro‑Force™ quick release belt with your leash in flowing water environments. Read more about water safety and leash guidance here.
Please note that guidance from British Canoeing (the Governing Body for Stand Up Paddleboarding) advises that you DO NOT use any leash system while paddling on white water.
