- How will this jacket keep my kid warm?We developed your jacket for intense wintry conditions: cold, snow, blizzard. The heat comes from thick wadding (double layer on the body), a synthetic insulating component thanks to the air stored in its fibres. We added a wide quilted inner flap underneath the main zip to stop cold air from entering. According to our laboratory test at -23°C, 70% of kids experience thermal comfort. However every individual feels the cold differently.
- How does the jacket protect my kid from outdoor conditions? This jacket was designed with a waterproof outer component that prevents water and wind from getting inside. In winter, to stay warm, it is important to protect the head, hands and feet. The storm hood with detachable synthetic fur, storm cuffs and a stand-up collar prevent the cold from getting inside.
- WATERPROOFNESS OF THIS JACKETThe waterproofness of a jacket isn’t limited to just its components: the assembly technique of the different parts is also an evaluation criterion. Whether heat-sealed or sewn then waterproofed, the overall waterproofness of your jacket is measured using a shower test developed by Decathlon, which simulates rain of different intensities. As such, this waterproof jacket protects you from a downpour, i.e. 12cm of rain in 2 hours.
- COMPONENT WATERPROOFING OF THIS JACKETThe waterproofness of a fabric, provided by a coating or membrane, is measured in Schmerbers or mm H2O (pressure exerted by a column of water). The higher this number, the more waterproof the fabric. This jacket has a waterproof component (JIS 1092 standard) resistant to 5,000mm H2O (Schmerbers) before washing.
- What is the meaning of: "100% taped seams"?Your jacket is completely waterproof thanks to its taped seams. The seams of a garment are made watertight by adding adhesive waterproof strips on the inside of the garment that prevent water from getting through these vulnerable areas. We have checked its waterproofing with a specially designed shower test to reproduce conditions under a 2 hour rain shower. We had it tested by kids on a hike to make sure it performed all the functions expected of it.
- A practical jacket with smart detailsPractical and smart details: 2 outer pockets with flap, 1 secure inner pocket for storing your phone for example, 2 net inner pockets to store gloves, etc. The main fastening has a zip puller and the press studs have a thumb loop: kids will be able to undo and do up their jacket without removing their gloves, and the same goes for you.
- Kids quickly get their stuff dirty; can you wash this jacket regularly without damaging it?To ensure the durability of our products, we perform tests on the selected components: resistance to rubbing and abrasion, colour fastness, resistance to repeated washing. It is preferable not to wash the faux fur of the hood. It is detachable so that it can be removed before putting the jacket in the machine. If really necessary, we recommend washing the fur by hand and then drying it in the open air.
- How do I choose the right kids’ clothing for snow hiking? To dress properly in winter, whatever your activity, we recommend using the 3-layer principle: layer 1: The high-tech base layer transfers moisture away from the body to keep your skin dry. layer 2: The second layer (fleece, sweater) provides warmth and transfers moisture outwards. layer 3: The jacket protects you from the outdoor conditions: rain, snow, wind. The whole outfit must be breathable in order to eliminate moisture.
- How to preserve the technical qualities of this jacket?Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To renew the fabric's water repellent-properties and optimise the garment's performance throughout its lifetime, we recommend using these products on every wash at a minimum.
- How to properly look after your productTo look after your product, we recommend closing the zips for washing. Machine wash at 30°C - normal cycle. Do not bleach. Can be tumble-dried on medium heat. Do not iron. Do not dry clean. Always dry this garment thoroughly before storing it in a dry place away from light. Avoid using chemicals such as bleach, which could cause affect the garment’s colour and thermal insulation.

Ecodesign approach

Using recycled polyester rather than conventional polyester reduces the CO2 emissions linked to the material by at least 17%.

Using recycled polyamide rather than conventional polyamide reduces the CO2 emissions linked to the material by at least 38%.

Using this mass-dyeing process enables us to reduce CO2 emissions linked to the production of dyed textiles by at least 17% compared to conventional dyeing.
