Store it in a warm, dry place away from corrosive products and salty air. Never store with the battery flat, and remember to recharge it at least once every six months.
Running in your brakes
When a bike leaves the store, the pads and discs are new and the brake performance is reduced. Continuous braking (in descent), can lead to overheating and "glazing" of the pads. That's why we recommend you break them in with a dozen brake applications (with a deceleration from 25 to 5km/h, without blocking the wheel, using only one brake at a time). If brake pads do become glazed (smooth and shiny) you can sand them lightly with fine sandpaper. Re-assemble your pads and give them a new run-in.
Connecting your smartphone
You can connect your smartphone to the E-EXPL 520 S via Bluetooth. This gives you access to:
- Statistics on the use of assistance modes
- Better battery life management
- The route and all your output data (downloadable directly from Strava)
- Updates to your electrical components
To access all this and so much more, simply download the DECATHLON RIDE app.
Maintaining your bike
The maintenance of your bike is essential to extend the life of its components so you can enjoy your bike for longer. Apart from the importance of having a clean bike, you also need to ensure regular maintenance to avoid premature wear, rust, and seized wiring which can lead to accidents. After initial use, some components may move slightly. This is why we offer free adjustment of your MTB within 6 months of purchasing. Take a look at our website to find your nearest Decathlon bike workshop.
