TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Crosscontact sole

The design of the sole has been the subject of long research at our laboratories, combined with a specific rubber formulation to offer the best compromise between grip and traction. As the needs are not the same, we systematically seek the best compromise to walk on natural (forest path type) and mineral pathway furniture (coastal path type).

Designed for use on natural trails

Our hiking boots are designed for use on natural trails. Indeed, we choose and test the components of the sole and the upper of our boots to best adapt to hiking on soft trails (forest paths made of earth) or mineral trails (rocky coastal footpaths). Road use (bitumen) can accelerate the wear of your boots and cause you discomfort. Not suitable for mountain hiking.

How to choose your correct hiking boot size?

Try on both boots, while standing, with the socks worn for hiking. Try several models, several sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going downhill. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Wear your boots in gradually during the first hikes, to mould them to your foot.

Laboratory test

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: tearing of the eyelets and straps, gluing, toxicology, UV resistance, abrasion of the sole and the components of the upper, accelerated ageing.

The boot/sock combination has an important role.

There are numerous causes of blisters when hiking: rubbing, a folded sock, moisture, size too small or too big...
It is therefore important to choose the right size and a sock material adapted to your hiking boots.

How to choose the size of your hiking socks?

You need to choose a sock size adapted to your foot to avoid any extra folding of the sock: either because the sock is too big and so there is too much material around your foot, or because the sock is too small and is pulled towards the inside of the boot.

How to choose the material of your hiking socks?

You need to manage humidity levels when out hiking: we perspire, it's often inevitable.
If your boot is breathable, it will wick away moisture from your perspiration: so you have to choose a light and breathable sock as well
If your boot is fairly waterproof, to protect you from the rain, you will not make the same choice: you need to choose a sock that will absorb your perspiration then draw it away as much as possible from your foot.

Which pair of socks goes with the NH100 MID boot?

These boots offer a little breathability but not enough to wick away all the moisture in your perspiration. You should therefore choose NH100 mid socks: they contain moisture-absorbing cotton and have a terry construction under the sock that keeps moisture away from your foot. And they are high enough to protect your ankle from the boot. It is an excellent combination to reduce the appearance of blisters.
