Technical Information

OUTSOLE WITH GRIP

The grip of our soles is labelled VIBRAM® offering excellent grip on dry and muddy terrain

HOW WATERPROOF ARE THESE BOOTS?

This boot has been validated on the waterproofing test at 50,000 repeatable flexes, i.e. 20 km of walking - 8 hours of walking in water up to the mid-upper, which today guarantees excellent waterproofing for your boots.
--> Our assessment indicates a LEVEL OF 4/5 enabling 8 hour waterproofing in hiking under the rain.
The details of tests carried out to assess the waterproofing of our boots is below, in the characteristics section.

WHAT IS THE PROGRAMME FOR THESE TREKKING BOOTS? WHICH TERRAIN,

The programme for these trekking boots is usually treks at high altitudes or in isolated and craggy areas, routes on or sometimes off footpaths, often with steep hills and shear drops.
Passages over rocks, firn snow, vertical distances over 1000 metres, over 5 hours of walking.

CAN CRAMPONS BE USED WITH THESE TREKKING BOOTS?

This model of Trekking boot has been specially designed to enable the use of STRAP-ON CRAMPONS ONLY. Its stiffness has been specially designed to enable optimal use of strap-on crampons while guaranteeing very good comfort when walking

MAKING WATERPROOFING LAST LONGER

The waterproofing of boots is often compromised because water gets in at the collar of the boot. To keep your feet dry for longer, it is therefore advisable to use a waterproof gaiter or mini-gaiter that will prevent not only water from getting inside through the top, but also pebbles, sand, etc. It is advisable to use a waterproof spray several times a year. This restores the original water-repellent properties and prevents staining.

CARE ADVICE

1 / Use a brush and/or sponge to clean the boot and remove any dirt or mud.
2/ Then leave to air dry, away from any heat source.
3/ Finish by using a re-waterproofing spray to keep optimal water-repellency of the upper and extend the life of the boot.

WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

WHICH SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?
For hiking, do not hesitate to choose one size above your usual size to ensure optimal comfort when going downhill and prevent your toes from hitting the front of the shoe. Tip: keep your toenails short and, before descending, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding forwards inside the shoe.

5 LEVELS OF WATERPROOFING

During the waterproofing test, we test 5 levels of waterproofing:
2,000 flexes (approximately 4 km , 30 minutes of walking)
10,000 flexes (approximately 10 km , 3 hours of walking)
30,000 (approximately 15 km , 6 hours of walking)
50,000 flexes (approximately 20 km , 8 hours of walking)
100,000 flexes (approximately >20 km , 24 hours of walking)

WATERPROOFING TEST

Our shoes are laboratory tested according to two successive tests
Test 1 / We test the efficiency of the membrane only when it is pressured and placed in water, we check the absence of water at the surface, like when you test a "punctured inner tube".
Test 2 / Thanks to mechanical arms that simulate walking, the assembled shoes are half immersed in water and they complete thousands of flexes to check that the inside of the shoe remains dry and it is therefore waterproof.

BUYING TIPS / HOW DO YOU TRY YOUR BOOTS ON?

How to choose your shoes:
1. Try both boots on, standing up, wearing the socks you use for hiking.
2. Tighten the laces correctly
3. Check the following two areas of comfort: the heel and the front of the foot when going downhill.
4. Get up to walk with the shoes on.
5. Try on several sizes and several models.
6. Wear your boots for increasingly long periods to wear them in
