Technical Information

How warm is this padded jacket?

This padded jacket, worn as a 3rd layer, has been certified for an active comfort temperature of -5°C during a standardised test in a thermal chamber.
The model is wearing a synthetic long-sleeved T-shirt and a light fleece underneath. It works with a simulated 5 km/h wind.
We have also tested this model in "static" mode; the comfort temperature is +5°C in this case.

Want to know more about the wadding?

We use 100% polyester wadding (70% recycled) weighing 125 g/sqm in the body and 100 g/sqm in the sleeves and hood.
The wadding is made from silicon-coated spiral fibres that make it highly compressible and highly durable.
Despite its low thickness, it has high insulation properties thanks to the air trapped inside, and remains lightweight.
It remains warm even when wet.

Do you know why the inner lining of your padded jacket is grey?

Because the fabric we use reduces CO2 emissions by 40%.
The fabric used is innovative because it mixes a dope-dyed black yarn and an undyed yarn.
Compared to a classic dyeing process, this process reduces by:
•66% fine particle emissions (PM2.5)
•74% eutrophication of fresh water
•68% eutrophication of sea water

Additional sustainable development information

On the Trek 100 black and blue models, the outer fabric uses a clean process known as dope dyeing (the thread is dyed in bulk) reducing CO2 emissions by 36%.

Durable materials

This polyamide fabric uses 20 denier thread and resists 20,000 cycles of abrasion.
Martindale test, Standard 12947-2.
Outer: 100% polyamide fabric 39 g/sqm, 20 denier.
Lining: 100% polyamide fabric 35 g/sqm, mix of 15 to 20 denier threads.

Water-repellent property of component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

The water-repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it.
As a result, the fabric does not soak up water and stays light and warm.
The fabric is made water-repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use.
We recommend that you restore it after each wash.

PFC-free water-repellent treatment

On the Trek 100 hooded padded jacket, the water-repellent treatment is PFC-free.
PFCs are used to make fabric water-repellent, however they are toxic to the environment and people. By substituting PFCs with other technologies giving the same level of performance, we are reducing the environmental impact.

How to restore water-repellent properties?

Follow the guide!
We recommend that you use the care product to treat and restore water-repellent properties

Inside flap under the zip that protects from the wind.
Elasticated cuffs
Flap at the top of the collar to protect the chin.
Tightening with an elastic cord and toggle at the hem.
Hood with elastic bias binding

A score for comparing the products' environmental impact

The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.).
Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products.

Our commitments

Test Product In November 2017, 6 trekkers (4 men and 2 women) and part of the Forclaz design team tested this jacket for 4 days in the southern French Alps (Lus La Croix Haute). We were then able to make the final modifications and validate it for use for mountain trekking.
