Technical Information

Why wear a down jacket?

A sleeveless jacket keeps the body warm: it protects the chest, neck and lower back from the cold, as these areas are especially sensitive to the cold.
Given that there are no sleeves, it is not as heavy in the backpack, even more breathable when making a physical effort and extremely comfortable in use when worn under a jacket.
Worn underneath the TREK 100 Down jacket, it can provide 6°C extra warmth when compared to a down jacket worn without the gilet.

The advantages of a duck down and feather filling

The fill power of down has 3 advantages for mountain sports:
- Thermal insulation thanks to the air trapped in the down and feathers
- Ultra-lightweight: to provide equal warmth, feathers are lighter than synthetic wadding. This saves even more weight in your backpack
- Ultra-compressible

How to measure the fill power of a down and feather wadding?

The fill power is a measure of the down's thermal insulation capacity and its potential to "trap" air. It is expressed in CUIN.
Consequently, the higher the fill power (i.e. the higher the CUIN number), the more space it occupies and the more air it traps thereby delivering more thermal insulation.
This 85% down / 15% feather sleeveless down jacket has a guaranteed fill power equal to or above 800 CUIN (European standard).

* What is RDS certificate?

Thanks to our traceability system, we can guarantee the origin of the feathers, in compliance with our commitment to use responsibly sourced materials. Our suppliers are committed to using only feathers that come from ducks that are bred for their meat and which are plucked after slaughtering.
We have been awarded the RDS (Responsible Down Standard) certificate by a third-party organisation.

How to maintain a down and feather jacket?

The sleeveless down jacket will be worn throughout the winter and will certainly need to be washed. Follow the instructions by clicking the link below:
https://www.forclaz.co.uk/advice-alias/how-should-i-look-after-my-down-jacket-tp_2579
In brief:
1/ machine wash, 30°, with 2 or 3 tennis balls. Gentle spin cycle.
2/ tumble dry with 2 or 3 tennis balls, renew 2 or 3 times until it is completely dry

In the event of rain

This gilet's fabric is water repellent. It enables drops of water to run off the fabric so it takes longer for water to get inside the jacket, giving you time to find shelter. But the gilet is not waterproof.
We therefore recommend wearing a waterproof jacket over the gilet in the event of prolonged exposure to rain.

Water-repellent property of the component (not to be confused with waterproofing)

A fabric is water-repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in.
This prevents the fabric from soaking up water keeping it lightweight and warm.
The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface, however this property may deteriorate with use.
We recommend that you renew after each wash.

How to reactivate the water repellent property?

Follow the guide:
https://www.quechua.fr/conseils/comment-reactiver-la-deperlance-de-sa-veste-a_86425
We recommend that you use the dip-coating care product
https://www.decathlon.fr/eco-wash-in-proof-250-ml-id_8408883.html
It enables you to optimise the performance of your clothing throughout its lifespan.

A score for comparing products' environmental impact

The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators.
An overall ABCDE rating is given to help you easily identify products with the best environmental performance by comparing and contrasting products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.).
Decathlon actively promotes this environmental rating initiative.
