TECHNICAL INFORMATION
What makes a jacket waterproof?

The resistance of a fabric to water seepage. This is measured using an approved water pressure test. Bearing in mind that the average pressure of rain water varies between 2000 mm and 1000 mm, a fabric is considered to be waterproof from 2000 mm. Our products resist pressure from 2000 to 10,000mm. They are therefore very waterproof and suited to even the most extreme weather conditions.

What do you mean by sealed seams or waterproof strips?

Its seams are sealed (or taped) using heat-sealed, waterproof strips. They are placed behind the seams and are essential for waterproofing clothing so that water cannot enter through capillarity (water being absorbed by the threads and holes of the fabric).

Flexibility:

3-in-1 jacket with removable padded lining. This will help you cope with every situation depending on the weather conditions: rainy or cold.
Please note: the inner padded jacket must be turned inside out when worn by itself.

Component breathability:

To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more the water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET<9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.

Water repellent component:

Water repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. A fabric becomes water repellent by applying a treatment to its outer surface. This treatment must be renewed in the course of the garment's lifetime (after 2 to 3 washes on average). All the Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment

Windproofing:

Coating applied to the fabric makes it waterproof and windproof. A waterproof fabric has the technical characteristics needed to be windproof-certified. It is very important to protect yourself from the wind, when active and when resting, as it drastically cools down the body.

Technical details:

Adjustable ergonomic hood for optimal protection. Adjustable cuffs, adjustable hem (using toggles), central zip opening and two hand pockets.

Ventilation:

Underarm ventilation wicks away perspiration even more quickly.

A score to compare the products' environmental impact

The product's environmental impact is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators.

An overall score of ABCDE is calculated to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.).

For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority.
