Anatomic design 146 cm: 1.61 to 1.68 m
150 cm: 1.65 to 1.75 m

The Gala is a very versatile and accessible all-mountain board. On-piste, its small standard camber under the feet gives you enough traction. Its double front/rear rocker helps it to float on powder and makes it easier to turn on slopes. At very high speeds, however, it reaches its limits.

Directional snowboard

The shape of the board is directional, i.e. the board has a nose and tail. It is not symmetric the tail of the board is slightly narrower than the nose, and the bindings as well as the board's contact points on the snow are slightly set back.
A directional shape offers better grip when cornering, better trajectory management and better recovery when exiting a turn.

Rossignol Ampteck Auto-Turn camber

The Cambre Rossignol Amptek Auto-Turn has a reverse camber with a small standard camber between the two bindings for better traction: 20% standard camber, 80% rocker. Suitable for beginners to experienced snowboarders. This type of reverse camber (or double rocker) offers very good traction on hard snow, buoyancy on powder, as well as easy turning and manageability.

Supple, forgiving flex

The flex is the stiffness of the board between the front and rear. The flex of the Gala is about 2/5, which is supple and forgiving. This type of flex is very homogeneous from the front tip (nose) to the rear tip (tail), offering very predictable cornering with no surprises. The drawback is that at high speed or on very icy snow, the board won't hold a nice, well-cut turn. It will slide and automatically slow you down.

Supple, forgiving torsion

The torsion, i.e. the torsional stiffness of the board between the feet, is about 2/5. This makes the board easier to handle and pivot and forgiving of edging mistakes. Supple torsion offers some freedom of movement between the feet. If exaggerating, you might say the front foot can be angled heel/toe, and the rear toe/heel. Edging mistakes are forgiven, which is important for beginners. The supple torsion is also suited to freestyle/jib use.

15 mm setback

The setback is when the board's compression points with the snow are not symmetrical in relation to the centre of the board, but set back towards the rear. The bindings are also set back towards the rear by the same distance: 15 mm setback: quite significant setback for a directional board. It provides better grip in turns and flexibility in powder snow because the weight is on the tail of the board which naturally raises the nose.

When should I wax my snowboard?

The boards require regular maintenance: ideally, wax after every 5 outings and at least once a year:
- either at the beginning of the season to start with a very good glide
- or at the end of the season, leaving the wax on to protect the base throughout the summer

What's the right size Gala for me?

In general, for all-terrain use, you can choose between about -15 and -20 cm (e.g. a girl measuring 1 m 66 can use a board between 151 and 146 cm in length).
If you choose a shorter board, it will be easier to control. A shorter board is also recommended for people who are light for their height. A longer board offers greater stability at high speeds.
146 cm (40-70 kg) => from 1 m 61 to 1 m 70
150 cm (50-75 kg) => from 1 m 65 to 1 m 75
