TECHNICAL INFORMATION
How is backpack volume measured?

The volume of each backpack is measured using a standardised method: we fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with little balls. We then empty the balls into a graduated container to measure the equivalent volume in litres within a few percentage points.
The unloaded weight provided is that of our reference sample. There may be slight variations.

The Easyfit system

This patented system allows you to adjust your bag while on, with just a single movement, so that it fits your body shape: for maximum comfort.

How to pack a backpack?

Put your bedding at the bottom. Carry heavy gear (tent, stove, food) closest to your back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet should be placed under the flap and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep a rainproof jacket and fleece close at hand. Place small items that are needed during the day (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) in the pockets. If carrying a hydration pack (water bladder), this should be placed in its special pocket along the back.

How to adjust your Forclaz EasyFit backpack?

FIRST, LOOSEN all the straps (shoulder straps, belt, load adjuster straps). PUT THE BACKPACK ON. PLACE THE BELT ON YOUR HIPS (it should cover your pelvis) and TIGHTEN IT. Then PULL THE EasyFit TOGGLES and the strap blockers position themselves around your shoulders. Finally, ADJUST THE LOAD ADJUSTER STRAPS as needed.

Tests conducted by our Research and Development teams on the effectiveness of the Easyfit system

User-friendly design: The EasyFit backpacks can be adjusted 2.3 times more quickly; and the number of repeat adjustments = 0 for the Easyfit bag. The EasyFit system does not affect the quality of the adjustments when compared with a conventional adjustment system: EasyFit was rated significantly more comfortable in the 4% Friedman statistical test; users also observed 6 times more good adjustments.

10-year warranty conditions

The warranty covers any backpack faults, except those caused by normal wear and tear and improper use. The product and original sales receipt will be required for any claim under this special 10-year warranty to be granted, in which case the product will be repaired or exchanged for free. This commercial warranty does not affect any statutory guarantees that are applicable in the country of purchase.

Environmental measurements

Decathlon, together with Forclaz, have decided to display the environmental information on the impact of the entire life cycle of their hiking backpacks. This work follows an experiment that began in July 2011 with the French Ministry of Ecology. The scores ranging from A to E were awarded based on a comparison between Quechua backpacks only. Details on this project and the calculation methods used are available at http://www.oxylane.com/20/demarche-environnementale

OUR COMMITMENTS
All our backpacks are tested in the field by users who represent the target market under the same conditions as you would encounter in use. In particular, our "Mission Tests" bring together the product manager with people who are not affiliated with QUECHUA to test, improve and validate our products.
Test Product We test the bag's resistance to abrasion, wear, its colour fastness under UV rays, after washing and its waterproofing in the laboratory and in the field. Then, a dummy is used to simulate the ageing of the bag filled with weights after a number of years using thousands of series of fast walking actions, to check the durability of the assemblies. Tests are also conducted separately on the components (fabrics, buckles, straps, foam, zips, etc.) so that we can guarantee these bags for 10 years.
