TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Footwear waterproofing test.

Tested in laboratory and in use, these shoes, equipped with a Waterproof membrane, will ensure optimal impermeability and breathability. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking, half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.

3 levels of waterproofing.

In our waterproofing tests, we test 3 levels of waterproofing:
2000 flexions (approximately 4 km walk)
4000 flexions (approximately 8 km walk)
8000 flexions (approximately 16 km walk).
Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry.

Shoe waterproofing level.

The TREK 100 shoe is validated on the impermeability test in 8000 flexions or 16km walk in water up to mid-upper.

Lab tests

Laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements:
- torn hooks and eyelets
- bonding of the sole
- toxicology
- UV resistance
- abrasion of the sole and of the components of the upper
- accelerated aging.

Buying tips

Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking.
Try on several models or sizes if necessary.
Check two comfort points: the base of the heel (the heel does not take off or it does so slightly) and the forefoot while going downhill (the toes do not touch the front of the shoe).
Avoid all pressure points when trying them on.
Don't hesitate to walk around the store.
Gradually start using you shoes during your first few hiking trips to break them in.

Care instructions

Use a brush to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Always brush in the same direction to give nubuck its original look.
The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. It's not a problem as such, but could change the aesthetics of the shoe.
