YULEX100

The wetsuit. Reimagined.

In the 1930s, a new material was developed that was very elastic but also very Polychloroprene, better known as neoprene, is resistant to weathering and has a wide range of uses, especially in watersports.

Today, almost 90 years later, Decathlon has teamed up with YULEX to develop the first swimming and diving suit in which neoprene has been replaced entirely with natural rubber. The advantage of this is that our YULEX100 wetsuit has the same qualities as a neoprene suit, but its production generates up to 40% less carbon emissions than our previous models.

THE FIRST EVER WETSUIT MADE FROM 100% NATURAL RUBBER

From tree to sea

  • Yulex | Decathlon

Neoprene is made from oil or limestone using enormous amounts of energy, whereas the material used in our YULEX100 range is made by obtaining latex milk from the barks of rubber trees without having to tear them down; this is then made into YULEX.

  • Yulex | Decathlon

We created our YULEX range as an alternative choice for diving enthusiasts and avid surfers. 100% natural rubber offers the same heat-regulating properties and elasticity as a neoprene suit.
And because we’re FSC and PEFC certified, you can be sure that our rubber production adheres to high ecological and social standards.

Time to try it out: discover our YULEX100 products.

The first products in our YULEX100 range are perfect for swimming pools, lakes, and beaches: Our kids’ wetsuits and diving tops are made from natural rubber and are as flexible as a neoprene suit. As you would expect from Decathlon products, they’re available at very reasonable prices.

Wetsuits made for the present and the future

Julien Cazelles, Decathlon component and tech engineer

This is the first time we’ve eliminated synthetic rubber and replaced it with 100% natural rubber in our wetsuits. You could say that YULEX100 is the material of the future.

Performs just like a Neoprene suit

Maxime Huscenot, pro surfer

YULEX100 is offering the same freedom of movement and thermal
comfort as a neoprene suit. I’m proud to be able to launch and
promote this innovation together with the team at Decathlon.

WORLD OCEAN DAY 2024: BEGINNING OF A NEW ERA

For over thirty years, World Ocean Day has reminded us to look after our seas and protect them against pollution and its consequences. At Decathlon, we want to contribute to a future in which our natural environment is cared for and enjoyed responsibly. Developing a neoprene alternative is just a small step—but one in the right direction.

That’s why, on the 8th of June, we’re launching our first YULEX100 products on World Ocean Day 2024.
