Adjusting hunting binoculars may seem like an easy task, but it is not. Adjusting your binoculars correctly requires key steps that will allow you to get the most out of your hunting binoculars.
It is important, before using your binoculars, that the eyepieces and objectives are clean. Clean them with a suitable cloth to remove any fingerprints or dust.
This is an important step that should not be overlooked because a fingerprint on the lens can obscure up to 20% of the light from the sight. That's a lot!
Cleaning advice: use a special optical brush to clean dust and other residues, and a cloth to clean fingerprints.

Once the outer faces of the objectives and eyepieces have been cleaned, the first step is to adjust the pupillary distance. This step is also key for perfect vision with your binoculars. Your eye needs to be perfectly aligned with the lenses to make the best use of your binoculars.
An incorrect inter-pupillary setting will greatly degrade the vision and shadows will appear at the edges of the image.
To obtain a clear, sharp image of the observed animal or object, turn the central focusing knob to the left or right until you get a sharp image.
Be careful, the greater the magnification of your pair of binoculars, the smaller the depth of field will be. This depth also deteriorates with the age of the person using the binoculars. The younger the person, the larger the area. We tell you more below!
To find the magnification of your model, look on your binoculars, it will be indicated on the central focusing wheel. It is the first number on the following data for example 10x42: 10 magnification
Do you have a difference between the right and left eye? Don't panic, we've thought of everything. To correct the difference between your two eyes, you only need to adjust your binoculars. Here's how:
Close your right eye and focus on an object about fifty metres away using the central knob. Is the object now in focus? Once the object is sharp, close the other eye and repeat the operation, this time using the dioptre correction ring located near the right eye-cup. The difference between your eyes is now compensated for. You no longer need to use the dioptre correction ring.
If you wear glasses, another additional step will allow you to get a clear image.
These are the retractable eye-cups. Many of our binoculars have this eye-cup system, making it possible to adapt to the constraints of wearing glasses.
For non-spectacle wearers, twist out the eye-cups as far as they will go. For spectacle wearers, twist the eye-cups down to the binocular body.
