Durability
A strong fishing reel provides the best resistance in extreme conditions and requires little maintenance. This strength depends on the quality of the material it is made from.
There are several features that should be taken into consideration when choosing your fishing reel. Bearing quality? Drag power? Strength and even the size of the fish? We will explain benefits of the different features to help you make the right choice.
A strong fishing reel provides the best resistance in extreme conditions and requires little maintenance. This strength depends on the quality of the material it is made from.
Smooth spool rotation makes fishing more comfortable. The quality of this rotation depends on the number of ball bearings. The “+1” refers to the needle bearing which is used for the infinity anti-runback (more comfort during striking).
Expressed in kg, the power corresponds to the maximum tension exerted on the drag of the fishing reel. When this tension caused by the fish is greater than the force of the drag, the fishing reel releases the line to prevent breakage.
A Long Cast spool minimizes the friction at the end of the line during the action. There is therefore no loss of speed if the line is released.
The weight of the targeted fish has a direct impact when choosing a fishing reel.
ULTRA LIGHT 1000 - 2000
A fishing reel sized 1000 or 2000 is recommended for catching fish up to 2 kg.
LIGHT 2500 - 3000
A fishing reel sized 2500 or 3000 is recommended for catching fish ranging from 1 kg to 4 kg.
MEDIUM 4000
A medium fishing reel sized 4000 is recommended for catching fish between 2 kg to 6 kg.
MEDIUM HEAVY 5000
A medium heavy fishing reel sized 5000 is recommended for catching fish between 4 kg to 6 kg.
HEAVY 7000
A heavy fishing reel is recommended for catching fish that weigh 8kg or more.
A heavy duty reel is more resistant to extreme conditions and requires little maintenance. The reel's toughness is determined by the quality of the materials used to build it. Composite reels are more forgiving to knocks, but heavier than aluminium reels.
