What size BULLWHIP 300 EVO should I get?

Normally, for all-terrain use, you should choose a board that is 15 to 20 cm shorter than you are (for example, someone measuring 1.74 m should use a board that is between 159 and 154 cm).
Shorter snowboards are easier to ride. They're also recommended for people with low weight relative to their height. Longer boards provide greater stability at high speeds.
151 CM (50 - 85 kg) => from 1.66m to 1.75 m
155 CM (60 - 90 kg) => from 1.7 m to 1.8 m

A word from the product manager

An easy and accessible snowboard that really helps you progress. To offer you a snowboard that provides the best value for money, we have reviewed the transportation of our snowboards. That's why this snowboard comes without bindings. And to avoid compromising on either riding pleasure or board longevity, we've kept its wooden core.

The BULLWHIP 300 EVO board is perfect on groomed slopes, in all types of snow. Supple flex and torsion, standard but not very pronounced camber, gentle directional shape: it is designed to make learning how to snowboard easier. Offers buoyancy in powdery snow; playful for beginner freestylers. Its wooden core lets you push it on hard snow, within reason.

Directional Snowboard

The board has a directional shape; in other words, the board has a distinct tip and tail. It is not symmetrical; the tail of the board is slightly narrower than the tip; the bindings as well as the contact points with the snow are slightly setback.
A directional shape offers improved grip when cornering, better trajectory management and better acceleration when exiting a turn.

Standard camber

A standard camber is curved upwards between the 2 points of contact between board and snow. Thanks to the elasticity of the board, a standard camber acts like a spring to give you grip on all types of snow, pop when switching edges and acceleration on exiting turns.

Forgiving, soft torsional flex

Flex refers to the rigidity of the board from front to back .The BULLWHIP 300 EVO board has a torsional flex of about 2/5 which makes it supple and forgiving. The flex pattern is consistent from nose to the tail, offering predictable performance and cornering with no surprises. However, when riding at high speed or on icy snow, the board cannot hold a carved turn. It slips and you break automatically.

Forgiving with soft torsional flex

The torsion, which is the stiffness of the board between your feet when twisting, is roughly 2/5. This makes the board easy to handle, pivot and more forgiving of edging errors. Soft torsional flex offers a degree of free movement between feet. The front foot can be slightly angled heel/toe, and the rear toe/heel. Forgiving of edging mistakes which is important for beginners. Soft torsional flex also suitable for freestyle, jib or flat use.

10 mm setback

A setback stance is when the contact points between the board and the snow are asymmetrically positioned in relation to the centre and set back towards the rear of the board. The bindings are also set back towards the rear by the same distance.
10 mm setback: classic setback for directional boards. It provides excellent hold in turns and buoyancy in powder as the weight is shifted towards the back of the board which means that the front naturally lifts up.

Recommended bindings

With the black Illusion 400 binding, the board + binding set will be equal in terms of consistency of level and of design.

When should I wax my snowboard?

Decathlon Snowboards are supplied factory-waxed.
But they will then need regular maintenance just like any other snowboard: ideally, wax every 5 outings and a minimum of once a year:
- either at the beginning of the season so you start with a very good glide
- or at the end of the season so the wax can penetrate and protect the base throughout the summer

Glide quality: extruded base

The base is made from polyethylene using 2 different processes:
- extruded base, with a specific density of polyethylene
- a sintered base with a higher density of polyethylene (fewer holes, more PE)
A sintered base is the Rolls-Royce of bases providing good durability.

What is a Wide snowboard?

A "Wide" board is a board that is wider than usual to prevent larger feet from touching the snow when executing a hard turn and stop you from falling.
Riders with size 10 feet and above are advised to use a "Wide" board.
A "Wide" board is measured width-wise, across the centre
At Decathlon, we define this as follows:
- up to 255mm : normal board
- from 255 mm to 265 mm: Mid Wide
- from 265 mm: Wide

0% Park: can I perform jumps with this board?

0% Park just means that the technical features of this snowboard are not designed for freestyle riding: the board is neither short nor symmetrical from front to back, making it possible to perform all freestyle movements (rotations, jumps with a switch landing etc.) but it's not really the best board.
However, on groomed slopes or off-piste, you can do all the straight jumps you like.

Can I get my snowboard bindings set up in store?

On this product page, you'll find a video that shows you how to set up snowboard bindings but you can also ask your store to set up your bindings to suit your own preferences.
Ensure you have your snowboard boots with you so you can check 2 things:
1. the front and back of your bindings so that the boot toe and heel overhang by an equal amount on either side,
2. your binding straps so they fit your boots properly.
