Tennis matches can require hours of intense activity, often in the sunshine. So chances are, you'll sweat, a lot! And this can be both uncomfortable, and distracting. Fortunately, there are some simple accessories you can wear which can help.

WHAT IS A TENNIS HEADBAND?

Sweat bands are designed for one main purpose, which is to catch your sweat and keep it contained. Sweatbands for your head—or headbands—are worn around your forehead, stopping sweat from dripping into your eyes. Sweat can cause your eyes to sting, and it can even obstruct your vision - not ideal during a tennis match.

WHAT ARE WRIST SWEATBANDS?

Wrist sweatbands—or simply wristbands—work in the same way as headbands. Moisture can make your grip slippery, so wristbands help stop excess sweat from running down onto your hands. You can also wipe your eyes or face on your wristband without having to leave the court to grab a towel.

CHOOSING SWEATBANDS FOR MEN

The two main types of sweatbands for men to help while you're playing tennis are a headband and wide wristbands, usually made of absorbent cotton terry cloth fabric. Some players choose a bandana-style headband instead. Available in a variety of colours, these can match your tennis clothingor stick to standard white if you're playing in a tournament. Or why not wear atennis cap or visor instead? You'll have the added benefit of sun protection too.

DO I NEED TO WEAR TENNIS GLOVES?

It can get a little chilly on court in the autumn and winter months, so tennis gloves are ideal for keeping your hands warm pre-and post training. Or wear during your practice - the textured areas of the gloves will provide better grip of the tennis racket.
