Additional recommended products
"Rain-Cut Pant" over-trousers or waterproof gaiters that cover the lower legs perfectly, thereby creating an outfit that fully and effectively protects you from showers. Care products: waterproof spray or liquid treatment in a washing machine. To restore the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
Component waterproofing
The fabric's resistance to water pressure is measured by the height of a column of water that can supported by the fabric expressed in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with 2000mm waterproof rating can therefore withstand the pressure of a 2000mm column of water (which is approximately equivalent to a 2-hour rain shower).
Garment waterproofing
Technologies: this garment has been subjected to a shower test of 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the resistance, the more the water vapour generated by body movements is allowed to escape, and hence, the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
Component water resistance
The water repellent property of a fabric is its capacity to make water run off its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's outer surface. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every 3 washes).. All Quechua waterproof ponchos and capes have received a water repellent treatment.
