We developed this board for experienced riders who are not interested in freestyle, but who want to perform beautiful turns on groomed slopes and on powder. A standard camber snowboard with medium torsional flex for good traction on hard snow. Long front tip (nose) and rocker, so it can float on top of powder. Wide size, designed for large feet.

Technical Information

A word from the product manager

We wanted to design a versatile board for all riders not attracted by the park.
This board is designed for riding on groomed slopes but can easily be used off-piste. Great fun! The prototype for this board was created in our design centre, at the Passy Mountain Store, in Haute-Savoie, before being tested in resorts near our offices for the duration of the development process.

The All Road is the all-mountain board par excellence: 50% groomed slopes and 50% off-piste.
You can go anywhere, on all types of snow, on groomed slopes, off-piste and on powder, as well as on crusted snow thanks to its elongated front tip, made thinner to catch less. This is why the nose has this particular shape.
Do not use in parks: this board is not designed for modules or riding switch.

Directional Snowboard

The board has a directional shape; in other words, the board has a distinct tip and tail. It is not symmetrical; the tail of the board is slightly narrower than the tip; the bindings as well as the contact points with the snow are slightly setback.
A directional shape offers improved grip when cornering, better trajectory management and better acceleration when exiting a turn.

Standard camber + rocker

It retains all the advantages of the standard camber (thanks to the elasticity of the board, a standard camber acts like a spring to help grip all snow surfaces, providing dynamism during edge-to-edge transitions and enhanced acceleration when exiting a corner) combined with the advantages of a rocker (under pressure, the contact points between board and snow, are closer together and the board is easier to handle). The rocker elongates and raises the nose so that it can glide better over powder.

Medium, versatile flex

Flex refers to the rigidity of the board from front to back.
The Bullwhip 500 All Road has a flex rating of about 3/5, which is average and versatile. It handles well when performing carved turns and is also forgiving of edging errors.

Versatile and medium torsion

The All Road 500 has a torsional flex, which is the stiffness of the board between your feet when twisting, of about 3/5 which is fairly stiff for good hold in curves, recovery coming out of a turn and responsive edge transition. This makes the board suitable for advanced to expert levels, while remaining very accessible physically.

25 mm setback

A setback stance is when the board's compression points with the snow are not symmetrical in relation to the centre of the board, but set back towards the rear. The bindings are also set back towards the rear by the same distance.
25 mm setback = significant setback for directional boards. It provides excellent hold in turns and buoyancy in powder as the weight is shifted towards the back of the board which means that the front naturally lifts up.

Technical information

Mid-Wide size 163 cm
Front width 302 mm. Centre 265 mm. Rear 294 mm.
Radius 9.5 m.
Effective edge 1,064 mm.
No. of inserts: 10 + 10 (3 possible positions per binding/20 mm between each/compatible with mini disc).
Recommended stance: 550 mm.

Recommended bindings

With the All Road 500 binding, the board + binding combination will be very homogeneous in terms of level and programme.

When should I wax my snowboard?

Wed'ze boards are supplied factory-waxed. They are ready to ride.
But they will then need regular maintenance just like any other snowboard or pair of skis: ideally, wax every 5 outings and a minimum of once a year: :
- either at the beginning of the season so you start with a very good glide
- or at the end of the season so the wax can penetrate and protect the base throughout the summer

What size All Road 500 should I get?

With an All Mountain, choose a board 15 or 20 cm shorter than you (for example, someone who is 1.74 m should opt for a board between 1.59 m and 1.54 m)Because the All Road has a rocker, choose one a little largerShorter snowboards are easier to rideThey're also recommended for people with low weight relative to their heightLonger boards provide greater stability at high speeds158 cm (60-80 kg) => from 1.7 m to 1.75 m
163 cm (75-90 kg) => from 1.75 m to 1.82 m
168 cm (85+110 kg) =>1.8 m and above

What is a Wide snowboard?

A "Wide" board is a board that is wider than usual to prevent larger feet from touching the snow when executing a hard turn and stop you from falling.
Riders with size 10 feet and above are advised to use a "Wide" board.
A "Wide" board is measured width-wise, across the centre. At Decathlon, we define this as follows:
- up to 254mm: normal board/shoe size 3 to 8.5
- from 255 mm to 264 mm: Mid Wide/shoe size 7 to 10.5
- from 265 mm: Wide/shoe size 8.5 to 13

Glide quality: sintered base

The base is made from polyethylene using 2 different processes:
- extruded base, with a specific density of polyethylene
- a sintered base, with a higher density of polyethylene (fewer holes, more PE) A sintered base is the Rolls-Royce of bases. Fantastic glide quality.

0% Park: can I perform jumps with this board?

0% Park just means that the technical features of this snowboard are not designed for freestyle riding: the board is neither short nor symmetrical from front to back, making it possible to perform all freestyle movements (rotations, jumps with a switch landing etc.) but it's not really the best board.
However, on groomed slopes or off-piste, you can do all the straight jumps you like.
