Backpack technical tests. Backpack components are approved in laboratory tests: fabric, buckles, webbing, foam, zips, etc. Fabrics are tested for resistance to wear and tearing, colour-resistance to UV rays, washing, waterproofing, etc. The finished product is tested by simulating the treatment to which it may be subjected over several years, to assess the strength of the assembly. The backpack is weighted, then placed on a dummy which reproduces the movement of fast walking through thousands of cycles.

10-year guarantee, technical partnership The Strenfit component brand, Quechua's partner for researching and testing its components and assemblies, conducted tests simulating backpack ageing. These tests were carried out on the components, the seams, and the finished product. Their results allow Quechua and Strenfit to guarantee the tested bags for 10 years from the date of purchase as indicated on the sales receipt.

How is a backpack's volume measured? Each backpack's volume is measured using a standardised method: We fill the main compartment as well as each pocket with small balls. Then we empty these balls into a graduated container, which gives the equivalent volume in litres.

Environmental measurements Oxylane and Quechua have decided to inform you regarding the environmental impact made by its hiking backpacks throughout their lifespan. This is the result of experiments done starting in July 2011 in cooperation with the French Ministry of the Environment. ABCDE scores were awarded based on comparisons between Quechua backpacks only. Project details and the calculation methods used available at www.oxylane.com/20/demarche-environnementale

How to adjust your backpack FIRST, LOOSEN all the straps (shoulder straps, belts, compression straps). PUT THE BACKPACK ON. For backpacks with a capacity of 50L or more, PLACE THE HIP BELT CORRECTLY (over the pelvis) and TIGHTEN IT. For smaller backpacks, the hip belt should be placed around the waist. TIGHTEN THE SHOULDER STRAPS. Finally, ADJUST THE LOAD ADJUSTER STRAPS as needed.

How to adjust the height of the back of your bag "First set to the estimated proper height and then adjust the bag as needed (see "How to adjust your backpack"). With the belt on your pelvis, the straps should go round the front part of your shoulders, with the load adjuster straps (sometimes also height-adjustable) set at an approx. 45° angle (not horizontally or vertically). If while trying it on the back feels too short or too long, readjust and try again until it fits just right. "

How to pack a backpack Put your bedding at the bottom. Put heavy gear (tent, portable stove, food) near the back. Pack your clothes around these items. The groundsheet can be placed under the flap; and the tent beneath the pack if there is no space inside. Keep a rainproof jacket and fleece close at hand. Small items for daily use (sun cream, map, glasses etc.) should be placed in the pockets. If carrying a hydration pack (water bladder), this should be placed in its special pocket along the back.

Concept "Air Cooling" certified packs are subjected to laboratory tests that measure the effectiveness of the carry system ventilation. A heated and perspiring mannequin is used to scientifically and objectively measure the pack's capacity to reduce perspiration. This label is only given to packs that perform significantly better than a "basic" model in the range (without any particular cooling system). We also compare them with competing products on the market.
Composition
Outer fabric: 100% PES; inner fabric: 100% PA; padding: 100% polyurethane.
Test Product
All our backpacks undergo use tests carried out by users representative of the products' target users, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our "Mission Tests" team up our product managers with people who are not affiliated with Quechua in order to test, improve and validate our products.
Restricted use :
Check carry system if you are over 1. 85 m (6'1") tall.
Stock advice
Store your bag in a dry place.
Care instructions:
To ensure materials retain their properties (especially waterproofing), we recommend you do not machine wash, tumble dry, dry clean or bleach your backpack. Do not iron. When cleaning your backpack by hand, use warm soapy water, and a brush if necessary. After a few years, you should renew the water repellent properties of the fabric using a waterproofing spray.
