used for 1 week or less I already own a £2500 Lapierre full suspension mountain bike which I totally love. I wanted a second bike to leave at our caravan, so I could ride when away without the inconvenience of transportation.
I decided on a hard tail and looked and all the major brands, obviously trying to get the best spec for the lowest price. The Rock Rider 560 was very, very hard to beat at its normal price. Now it's been reduced to £399 I had to go for it. First ride impressions were, absolutely brilliant! Honestly if you are thinking of getting this bike, hurry before it sells out. Yes it has 26 inch wheels, not a problem for me, In fact I prefer them, may be for others wanting larger wheels. The bike is comparable to bikes other leading manufacturers are asking 2 - 3 times more for. Quality components throughout. Rides well and is fast, gear changes very smooth, more than adequate breaking capability, handles we'll both on and off road.

What a bike

used for 1 week or less After spending much time looking at different bikes, i came across this one. for bigger branded bikes at similar money, they were over 2kg heavier, and not as well spec'd up. i have added this bike to my full suspension, meaning i now have a great cross country sprint bike as well as a more technical enduro bike. defiantly worth the money, and a fantastic ride. a great bike. well Done decathlon.

Superb Value

Deore Drivetrain, Rockshox fork, Clipless pedals

For the money, nothing except stock levels...

used for 1 week or less At it's normal price of £500 this would be a great bike. At it's current sale price of £400 it's a no-brainer for anyone wanting a mid-range MTB.

I was a pretty keen mountain biker in my early 20s, but I lost interest after that. Now at 36 I've decided to get back into it. My old GT Zaskar was stolen last year and so I needed a new bike. I'm a lot heavier and less fit now than I was then and so I wasn't going to rush out and drop a grand or more on a bike that I might crash on my first ride out in 10+ years. When I saw this on sale for £400 I thought it looked ideal. I had to wait a week for Large ones to come back into stock but when they did I snapped one up. I was impressed on the ride home; it even comes with some very basic button/coin cell rear/front lights to get you home.

Tonight I went out with the guys from my brother's cycling club for a 13 mile spin round some local forests and though my fitness and rusty riding skills were sorely tested, the RR560 coped admirably. It accelerates well, it's not too heavy, and the brakes are very controllable if possibly lacking in outright power- though I've probably not bedded the pads in yet.

When I looked at the Strava upload for the ride I'd come second quickest for one quick run round a slightly downhill and reasonably smooth segment. We were only out for a blat rather than a race, but I was out with guys who were much fitter than me, better riders, and on much more expensive bikes, most of them full sus rather than hardtails, so to me that says a lot about the quality of this bike.

As I said in the 'Negatives' section there's absolutely nothing to complain about at the price this bike is selling for, but I reckon the only parts of it I might upgrade before they're worn out is the wheels- they feel heavy and look cheap. For maybe £270 you could upgrade to lightweight tubeless wheels and kevlar beaded tyres and probably lop a further 2-3lb off the weight of the bike. I'll try and lose a bit more than that off my stomach first!

Now the bit I hesitate to post as I've seen that Decathlon read these reviews and respond to them with 'please come back if you're not happy'- my bike was a bit badly set up by the store; the riser bars weren't rising, rather set going straight back, and the stem was about 5 degrees from straight. Really not a problem for me, 10 minutes with some allen keys (and a T30 Torx key for the Avid brake levers) had everything perfect. Even had it been perfect I'd probably have fiddled with it anyway to bond with the bike. However if you're not confident with bike setup do check before you leave the store- the staff are very helpful and will set it up to your satisfaction- I was in a bit of a hurry and just got them to put some more air in the fork as I'm a fat git.

I also didn't get a manual, or any cleats for the pedals. I suspect that's not right and will be following that up.

All in all, if it wasn't obvious enough already, I'm delighted with this bike.
