used for More than 2 years all round very good bike, does what it say on the tin, fast light reliable, dependable, hard working,
but advice from so called bike mechanics at store ( surrey quays) not to helpful in finding things out about the bike and how to repair it myself,
staff do not seem to know where the [parts are made and they give poor advice in maintaining the bike myself.

used for 7 to 12 months Staff were knowledgable and professional. The bike was for my son who was drawn to its aggressive look as well as the quality of it's components. He is very pleased with the bike.

used for 1 week or less This review relates to a 500s in size medium, rider size 1.76 and 80kg weight. Age 44.( Much taller and you will need a size large or suffer farmer Giles leg syndrome)
Basically I needed a bike to help clear my head and seeing as we are lucky here to have numerous bridleways and stuff to explore and road surfaces that are not perfect I thought a mountain bike would be fine. I have never owned a full suspension bike before and I thought that I would give this a whirl without breaking the bank.
A bike revolves around its frame and this seems strong, the wheels robust and the gears give more than enough options to keep your cadence at the 90rpm which suits my riding style. I would say the set up is robust without being heavy.
I have used this both on road and off and it has not disappointed. The bike was set up correctly on pick up but I have adjusted the brakes and indexing on the gears as the cables have stretched since purchase (but this is normal) The mechanical discs are a awesome compared to v brakes or road brakes to my mind and I didn't have to learn a new skill set to do with hydraulics etc.
I changed the supplied stem straight away after my first ride to 65mm which has taken some weight off the front forks allowing them to function better in their travel and setting sag easier I still think they are a little soft mind and the pre load doesn't really make a world of difference to this.
At the rear I set the sag and it seems ok (but please bear in mind that this is my first full suspension bike). The suspension does work and I have barrelled down some off road tracks with more confidence than I have before.
You have to realise that the whole bike costs considerable less than most decent suspension units, the frame geometry seems in the ball park of far more expensive frames etc. I presume that this model will soon be discontinued hence the sale price because of its unfashionable wheel size etc. The frame would justify upgrades as parts wear out and lightening the bike in the process.
So yes I do like this bike and if you set it up correctly I don't think you will be disappointed. The internet is full of useful info as regards suspension set up etc. However I will probably purchase some mtb flat pedals and slightly wider bars. Any way best of luck to you in your decision making. I will update this only if it fails due to design or materials but I doubt it will my old rockrider is still going, my triban 500 is as well
Set the seat to the correct height, get your pedalling cadence in the right area and you will soon be where you want to go and hopefully enjoy the ride yet have the ability to get off the beaten track as and when the fancy takes you.

used for 7 to 12 months Had this bike for 11 months just over it's had faults since day 1 and i only do canal riding and local parks with flat routes. Gears keep slipping front suspension it already going stiff and crank is abit bent. Would rather have my money back than waste time sorting it

Response of the brand

Dear Sir,
I'm sorry to read that you are not happy with your bike.  Your gears may require a simple adjustment to make sure they shift smoothly and your forks may require a basic service/clean to get them working perfectly.
Regarding the bent crank, out in-store technicians will need to have a look.
Please feel free to contact your local store where we can resolve all your issues very quickly.
Regards,
Peter Lazarus UK Cycling Market Manager DECATHLON
