Rockrider 6.3 (2008l) vs Rockrider 500S (2014)

Great suspension, amazing handling, disk brakes.

Numb bum seat.

used for 1 week or less I own one of the original Rockrider 6.3s and have just bought my wife its modern successor, the Rockrider 500S. Its is not as well specced as my old bike, but for the price it is still a great buy.
You may have read that the original like mine was considered outstanding where as the current model is just average and ask why?
The following are different:
Frame
Rear suspension geometry,
Rear Shock unit
Gears
Tyres
Seat.
If you want a bike that will soak up all you can throw at it consider buying the next model up.
If you want something that is just fun, fun, fun, the new model is still absolutely excellent.

Response of the brand

Dear Sir,

Thank you for posting a review of your b'Twin Rockrider 500 S Full Suspension Mountain Bike.

Regarding the issue your are encountering with your gears, it is not uncommon for bikes to require some adjustment shortly after purchase because the cables can stretch a little resulting in less than satisfactory shifting in some gears.  We offer a free checkup anytime within the first 3 months precisely for this reason so please don't hesitate to contact your local Decathlon store workshop to book your bike in.  If you are unable to visit your local store then there are some great tutorials online which can guide you through the process if you feel confident enough and have the correct tools.

This is a good instructional video on Youtube to learn how to adjust your gears : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTprZHCwoNc
This is also a great film teaching riders how to shift gears on mountain bikes which can also help : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkM_bPE9ZBY
