What is breathability and the RET index? The breathability of your Kostabero warm jacket corresponds to its ability to let perspiration generated by the body escape. It is measured by its Resistance to Evaporative Transfer (ISO 11092 standard). The RET is a resistance index; the lower the value, the greater the breathability of the fabric. RET between 6 and 9: extremely breathable, between 10 and 13: very breathable, between 14 and 17: breathable, between 18 and 20: little breathability, above 20: not breathable.
What is a waterproofing test or "shower test"? Approved test in which your Kostabero warm jacket is placed under a shower simulating different weather conditions.
All our products are certified 100% waterproof having been tested for 4+ hours in rain of 100 L/hr/sqm to 450 L/hr/sqm depending on the product use. To give you an idea: the world record for 4.5 hours of precipitation was 174 L/hr/sqm, unmatched since 1942 in the USA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USDC).
The average rainfall in Paris is 2 L/hr/sqm (www.Paris.fr)
Water repellent component: Water repellent is achieved through a treatment applied to the exterior of your Kostabero warm jacket. This treatment causes water to slide over the surface without soaking in. This prevents the component from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime. Water-repellent treatment products are available in our stores.
How important is windproofing? Protection from the wind is critical, as wind can chill the body significantly whether you are active or at rest. According to the "wind chill" model, which measures how the air temperature feels when factoring in the wind and cold: At a temperature of 5°C combined with winds of 30 km/h, the temperature felt will be 0°C. If the air temperature is 0°C and wind speed is 40 km/h, the temperature felt will be -7°C. Your Kostabero warm jacket counters the wind chill effect.
What is the Clo index? The clo is the index that measures the thermal resistance of your Kostabero warm men's jacket. During the test, your technical garment's component is exposed to a temperature close to body temperature and a controlled exterior temperature. The clo index explains the ability of your Kostabero warm men's jacket to retain your body heat inside the garment. The higher the clo index, the better the technical component will preserve the heat emitted by your body.
Outer waterproof and breathable fabric: 100% polyamide. Filling: 100% 100 g/sqm recycled polyester wadding. Main lining: 100% polyamide. Secondary lining: 100% Polyester.
Novadry re-creates storm conditions in its weather simulator. Under these conditions, after 4 hours under a shower of 100 L/hr/sqm, our Kostabero warm men's jacket still kept the user dry. To give you an idea of what this means, the world record for 4.5 hours of precipitation was 174 L/hr/sqm, unmatched since 1942 in the USA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USDC), and when it rains in Paris, the average rainfall is 2 L/hr/sqm (www.Paris.fr).

Store in a dry place, but do not leave NOVADRY® garments on a heat source such as a radiator, as this may damage the breathable membrane or coating.
Machine wash your Kostabero warm and waterproof jacket at 30°C, inside out with the velcro fastened and without softener. Choose a long rinse and gentle spin cycle. Line dry if possible. Occasional tumble drying on low for a short period of time will improve the water repellent treatment. To reactivate the water repellency, you can also warm iron the fabric (max 110°C) or apply the Tribord re-waterproofing spray.
