How to choose your Dobok? Tae Kwon Do is a so-called "percussive" sport. Unlike judo, you do not grab your opponent's uniform (except in self defence).
This is why the dobok should be light with a generous cut to enhance freedom of movement. -

What size should you choose for a child? The size of your child will determine the size of your dobok (from 110 cm to 150 cm).
In line with tradition, the doboks are made from cotton and have a natural tendency to shrink a few centimetres during the first 3 washes.
This is why we recommend choosing a dobok which is 5 to 10 cm bigger than your child. For example, if your child is 133 cm, chose a 140 cm dobok. -

What size should you choose for an adult? Your height will determine the size of the dobok: from 160 cm to 200 cm.
In line with tradition, the doboks are made from cotton and have a natural tendency to shrink a few centimetres during the first 3 washes.
This is why we recommend choosing a dobok which is at least 5 cm bigger than you. For example, if you are 174 cm, choose a 180 cm dobok. -

Types of dobok for different levels? A child who is new to tae Kwon Do should choose a 100% cotton, twill fabric dobok (240° gr/m²), which is both soft and lightweight.
A novice Taekwondoist should choose a 100% cotton, twill fabric, which is both soft and lightweight.
A black belt Taekwondoist who competes should choose a ribbed cotton/polyester dobok.
