Bait Accessories

Accurately baiting around your hookbait is an important process for every carp angler, but with the range of fishing strategies you're likely to employ to ensure the best possible success in a variety of venues, you will need a variety of tools to help you bait locations accurately.

Catapults are useful for baiting areas with small amounts of bait at relatively short range, but the particles will spread out the further out you bait. For a more accurate spread over slightly further distances, a thowing stick can be used for boilies, but will not be any good for other particles baits you are likely to be feeding around your hookbait.

PVA bags and meshes are a popular option for carp anglers who wish to ensure a precise amount of bait is cast out with their hookbait, guaranteeing the hookbait is presented over the loosefeed. PVA bags can be filled with a range of loose feed options, including boilies, pellets, corn and stick mix, but cannot be used well with wet mixes. They are then attached to the hook and cast out with the hookbait, where the PVA then dissolves and releases the loose feed around your hook bait.

For more heavier baiting of areas at long ranges, carp anglers will often turn to spodding: a bait rocket can be filled with any sort of bait mix the angler wants to use, and can be cast out over long distances, but this requires specialist equipment - a spod rod, with reel and line.

Finally, a carp angler might choose to use a bait boat, which will guarantee exceptional accuracy when baiting a location and placing your hookbait, but this is likely to be the most expensive baiting accessory, and considerations like operating range, battery life, and hopper size could limit how effective this option is at extreme distances, over longer sessions or when heavy baiting is required.

We have a selection of bait boats for carp fishing that will still guarantee exceptional accuracy when baiting a location and placing your hookbait, and you will never have to leave the bank!

When choosing a bait boat, it is important to consider the operating range, i.e. how far can you take your bait out from the bank with the bait boat; the load capacity, how much loose feed do you want to be able to send out and drop with your hook bait; and the battery life.

Some models also have multiple hoppers, so you can send out more than one line, and you can also find models designed to house sonars, so you can be really precise about the spot you want to present your bait in - perhaps you simply want to target a specific depth, or perhaps a shelf in the lake-bed.
